"And I have found both freedom and safety in my madness, the freedom of loneliness and the safety from being understood, for those who understand us enslave something in us. But let me not be too proud of my safety. Even a Thief in a jail is safe from another thief. "

Intense Israeli Airstrikes Shake Southern Lebanon Monday Evening - This is Beirut

Heavy Israeli airstrikes rocked southern Lebanon and the suburbs of Beirut on Monday evening, targeting key Hezbollah strongholds.

Strikes hit areas like Rweiss, Laylaki, Mreijeh, and Chiyah, with six consecutive blasts near Al-Raya Stadium marking one of the most intense bombardments in recent days.

Israeli media reported that the strikes targeted a senior Hezbollah commander responsible for the group's “force-building” unit. The Israeli military confirmed the commander’s death, leaving behind significant destruction, with residential buildings reduced to rubble.

Earlier in the day, airstrikes hit southern Beirut neighborhoods and the Tyre district.

The Israeli military stated that “100 fighter jets carried out airstrikes on 120 Hezbollah targets.”

In Srifa, four civilians, including a Lebanese army officer, were killed.

In Baraashit, an airstrike on a fire station resulted in the deaths of ten firefighters, drawing condemnation as a war crime.

Southern towns like Yarine and Khirbet Selm also suffered heavy bombardment, trapping residents under rubble, as rescue efforts struggled amid continued strikes.

In retaliation, Hezbollah launched rockets into northern Israel, targeting settlements and military positions, including a military base near Haifa.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported 22 new deaths and 111 injuries today, bringing the total death toll to 2,083.
