President Bashar al-Assad started a two-days official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran on Sunday evening.
An official reception was held on the honor of President al-Assad at the Presidential Office where he was welcomed by his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The two presidents directed to the honor platform where the National anthems of the two countries were played, then President al-Assad reviewed the honor guards.
President al-Assad shook hands with members of the Iranian delegation. By his turn Iranian president Ahmadinejad shook hands with the Syrian senior delegation accompanying the President.
This is al-Assad's fourth visit to Tehran . The president earlier visited Tehran in early summer of 2004, mid-winter of 2000 and late winter of 2002.
