Damascus, (SANA) Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi offered condolences over the passing of Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Supreme Head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church, Mar Ignatius Zakka I Iwas, at St. George Church in Damascus.
Head of the Journalists Union Elias Murad, directors of media establishments and editors-in-chief of local newspapers also offered condolences alongside the Minister.
In a statement to journalists, al-Zoubi said that the passing of Patriarch Iwas created a void in Syrian national life, and that this void must be filled by working to consecrate the values upheld by the Patriarch, who was a part of the coexistence among Syrians which must be preserved.
