BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:22 P.M.) – A large number of fighters from the Menbeij Military Council (MMC) crossed Lake Assad by boat on Tuesday to join their allies in the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) as they prepare to attack the Islamic State’s (ISIL) last positions at the Tabaqa Dam, the MMC’s official media wing reported.
Since the Islamic State still controls the southern sector of the Tabaqa Dam, along with some territory in two suburbs north of Tabaqa City, the Syrian Democratic Forces will need additional manpower to drive-out the remaining terrorists occupying this area.
With the Russian-Turkish agreement in place in northern Aleppo, additional reinforcements from the MMC were able to travel to the western countryside of Al-Raqqa to aid their comrades fighting the Islamic State.
