BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:30 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army’s newly formed 5th Legion has arrived in the western countryside of Palmyra, a military source told Al-Masdar News on Friday.
The 5th Legion will be participating in the long-awaited east Homs offensive to liberate the gas fields north of Palmyra from the so-called “Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham” (ISIS).
According to an Al-Masdar field correspondent in Damascus, this east Homs offensive will be led by the 800th Battalion of the Republican Guard and Shaheen Group of the Tiger Forces; these units are already at the T-4 Military Airport.
