On Wednesday, 4 Russian naval vessels fired 26 cruise missiles into Syria from their positions in the Caspian Sea, marking the first time that the Russian Navy has militarily participated in this four year long Syrian Conflict.
According to the Russian Defense Minister, the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham was the primary target of these cruise missiles – he added that the Russian Navy targeted 11 sites and avoided any civilian populated areas in eastern and northern Syria.
Sources close to Al-Masdar News revealed a number of sites that the Russian cruise missiles struck inside Syria; among them was ISIS’ primary military base in northern Syria: the Tabaqa Military Airport.
