"And I have found both freedom and safety in my madness, the freedom of loneliness and the safety from being understood, for those who understand us enslave something in us. But let me not be too proud of my safety. Even a Thief in a jail is safe from another thief. "

Lebanon's PM Mikati Calls for Immediate Ceasefire, Long-Term Stability at Paris Conference - Kataeb.org

During the "International Conference in Support of Lebanon's People and Sovereignty" held in Paris on Thursday, Lebanon's caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati urged the country's allies to ramp up diplomatic efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire and end the ongoing destruction.

He stressed the importance of working towards long-term stability based on international law and U.N. Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 1701.

In a press briefing, Mikati expressed his gratitude to France for hosting the event, as well as to the participating countries and organizations for their commitment to supporting Lebanon and its people during these challenging times, marked by Israeli hostilities.

"We deeply appreciate your support and commitment to standing with Lebanon," Mikati said. "This conference has demonstrated that Lebanon and its people have the international community's backing. We urge our friends to intensify diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire immediately, halt the destruction, and work together towards lasting stability, grounded in international law and U.N. Security Council resolutions, especially Resolution 1701."

Mikati also highlighted the pressing challenge of addressing the issue of displaced individuals and fulfilling Lebanon's responsibilities toward them.

He noted that the conference was critical on several fronts: first, in showing vital humanitarian solidarity; second, in reaffirming the urgent need for a ceasefire.

The event further emphasized the immediate implementation of Resolution 1701, including bolstering the Lebanese Army's presence in the south to enable it to effectively carry out its duties.

He added that discussions at the conference also underscored the importance of supporting the army and security institutions, with plans underway for a dedicated conference focused on military and security forces.
