The office of Lebanon’s Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri denied on 27 October media reports claiming that Hezbollah has agreed to split the Lebanese front from Gaza and agree to a separate ceasefire deal.
“What was reported by one of the media stations, attributed to Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri about the negotiations, is inaccurate,” Berri’s office said in a statement on Sunday evening.
Lebanon’s LBCI broadcast channel cited a diplomatic source earlier on 27 October as saying that Berri informed the Qataris of “Hezbollah's agreement to separate the fronts and accept Resolution 1701 on the condition that it be part of an integrated package.”
The report came as Washington continues to push for “de-escalation” in Lebanon under the framework of an updated version of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which Lebanese officials have rejected.
