LONDON, (SANA) – Chairman of the Syrian Coordination Body Haitham Mana'a described the meeting of the so-called "Friends of Syria" in Morocco as "merely a party of recognitions and support.
In a statement on Wednesday, Mana'a hoped that the international group would act in a more serious manner and deal with all members of the Syrian opposition, not just the factions that are loyal or subservient to the west.
He said that he places more hopes on the talks which took place on Wednesday to launch a second Geneva initiative, saying that if the US administration can isolate extremists – Syrians and foreigners alike – and if Russia can exclude the sides that reject political settlements in Syria, then the road towards a political solution will become better paved.
In an article published by al-Safir newspaper on Tuesday, Mana'a described the external opposition's meetings in Doha as a "conspiratorial kitchen for dividing tools and goods" and that those who attended it didn't care much for Syria.
He said that the Arab Gulf's interest in making the aforementioned participants in the Doha meetings the representatives of Syria, the opposition and the people constitutes a grave attempt to eliminate any possibility of a civil, democratic transition in Syria, striking a deadly blow to any possibility of democratic and rational unification of the opposition.
