Baghdad, (SANA) – An audio recording attributed to the leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi appeared recently online, confirming the continuing cooperation between Al Qaeda and the terrorist group Jabhat al-Nusra in Syria.
The recording said that the "merger announced earlier between the Islamic state of Iraq and Jabhat al-Nusra in Syria to form the Islamic State in Iraq and Levant is still ongoing and will continue."
This "merger" was announced by Al Qaeda in Iraq in April, while Jabhat al-Nusra – which continues to commit horrendous massacres and bombings in Syria, most recent of which took place in the village of Hatla in Deir Ezzor – announced its fealty to Al Qaeda.
