The Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces” have returned to the Aleppo Governorate after a short hiatus to help liberate the strategic city of Palmyra (Tadmur) from the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).
However, the Tiger Forces will not be concentrated in east Aleppo this time around; instead, they have been deployed to the Handarat front in the north, where they will help recapture several villages under the control of the extremist rebels.
The Tiger Forces are no stranger to this front; in fact, one of their first major military operations took place in northern Aleppo during the Spring months of 2014.
