Syria’s envoy to the UN has blasted deadly airstrikes on an airbase, saying the raids show the US, along with Turkey and Israel, have moved from a proxy war to a “personal” one on the Arab state.
Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting in New York on Wednesday, Bashar Ja’afari said the US flouted the terms of the ceasefire meant to end hostilities in Syria, but Damascus committed itself to the deal.
He also criticized the international community for its failure to condemn US airstrikes near the Dayr al-Zawr airbase, saying the raid killed 83 Syrian soldiers and wounded 100 others.
