Damascus Car Bomb Kills Army Liaison With Hezbollah: Monitor - The Defense Post

A car bomb killed a Syrian officer working with Lebanese militant group Hezbollah in Damascus Saturday, a war monitor said, with state media reporting one dead without identifying the victim.

Bombings targeting military and civilian vehicles still occur intermittently in the Syrian capital more than 12 years into a devastating civil war.

“A Syrian army officer who worked closely with Hezbollah was killed after an explosive device detonated in his car in Damascus,” said Rami Abdel Rahman, head of Britain-based war monitor the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The officer hailed from the eastern province of Deir Ezzor province and was tasked with recruiting Syrian fighters for Hezbollah, Rahman said.

State news agency SANA said “one person was killed when an explosive device detonated in a car,” in the upscale Mazzeh district, which houses embassies and UN offices.

It did not provide any other details.

IDF confirms Hezbollah drone hits observation balloon: 'No harm to aerial image' - Ynet News

IDF Spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said Thursday evening that a Hezbollah drone scored a direct hit on the large observation balloon "Sky Dew," located near the Golani Junction, about 21 miles from the border with Lebanon.

"There were no casualties and no impact to the IDF's aerial situational awareness capability in the area," he added.

A top Hezbollah field commander was killed in an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon on Tuesday night, the military said. In response to the death of the commander, the terror group launched a barrage of some 60 rockets at a sensitive air traffic control base in northern Israel.

Hussein Ibrahim Makki, according to the Israel Defense Forces, was a senior commander in the terror group’s so-called Southern Front unit. He had previously commanded Hezbollah’s coastal division.

The Israeli army confirmed reports that rockets fired from Lebanon earlier today killed a civilian and wounded five soldiers on the Israeli side of the border, AFP reports.

"On the northern border, a civilian was killed today from an anti-tank missile that hit Adamit," a town on the border with Lebanon, army spokesperson Daniel Hagari said in a televised briefing.

The army said in a statement that "several anti-tank missile launches were identified from Lebanon," and that one soldier was moderately wounded and four others were lightly hurt.

IDF: Two troops dead after Hezbollah drone attack on Metula Monday - The Times of Israel

 Two IDF reserves soldiers were killed in a Hezbollah-claimed explosive-laden drone attack against an army position near Metula in northern Israel yesterday afternoon, the military announces.

The IDF says it attempted, but failed, to intercept the explosive drone that ultimately struck and killed the soldiers.

The pair are named as Master Sgt. (res.) Dan Kamkagi, 31, from Kfar Oranim, and Master Sgt. (res) Nahman Natan Hertz, 31, from Elazar. Both served in the 551st Brigade’s 6551st Battalion.

Another soldier was lightly hurt in the attack, the military adds.

Their deaths bring the toll of troops killed in attacks on the Lebanon border since October 8 to 13.
