"And I have found both freedom and safety in my madness, the freedom of loneliness and the safety from being understood, for those who understand us enslave something in us. But let me not be too proud of my safety. Even a Thief in a jail is safe from another thief. "

The Lebanese Police reported that two Japanese made cars were suspiciously moving in the vicinity of George Hawi's assassination scene in Beirut on Tuesday. They were filmed by a security camera of a nearby privately owned firm.

A sketch of a possible suspect in Hawi 's assassination was published in all the local Newspapers and shown on local TV .

The security Camera shows a green Honda Civic and a white Toyota van. They were provided by the police to the Beirut press. The cars were moving near the assassination scene before the deadly explosion went off and then returning to their original location after Hawi's assassination.

George Hawi was heading from his home in Wata Mosseitbeh neighborhood to Gondole cafe ( where Hawi always had breakfast) at Corniche Mazraa , a very busy commercial street in western Beirut, when a bomb, planted under the front, right hand side seat of his chauffeured dark blue Mercedes 600 went off, tearing the lower part of Hawi's body to pieces. His driver, Thabet Bezzi, survived with minor injuries.

The type and weight of the explosive is under debate. The local police has reported that the bomb is about 1 pound ( 454 Grams) while the FBI has reported a weight of 1200 Grams.

A police statement urged the public to watch out for the Honda Civic car and the Toyota van, releasing a series of photographs showing them in various positions between 9:30 and 9:50 am when the blast occurred. FBI experts that were called in to help determine the kind of explosives used in the lethal bombing have also been made aware of the taped films.
