President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a meeting with visiting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad here Saturday afternoon expressed pleasure over Hamas-Fatah agreement on ending conflicts.
According to the report of Presidential Office Media Department, the president underlined that conflict among different Muslim groups will only benefit enemies of Islam and Muslims must be aware so that the enemies by creating disunity and conflict among them do not reach their ominous goals.
Ahmadinejad said the Zionist regime's failure in Lebanon war which was the result of brave resistances of the Lebanese nation and the US fiasco in Iraq indicate increasing weakness of the US and the Zionist regime.
He said exchanging views and continuous consultations between Iranian and Syrian officials is very useful adding that Iran and Syria as two brotherly, friendly and united countries have an important position in the Islamic world and a special stance in the Middle East region.
Referring to the new US plans to create disunity among Muslims, Ahmadinejad added, "By aggravating the diversity of opinions and by pretending sympathy with the region's nations, they intend to show that they are trying to create stability and security while they are consolidating their own positions in the region."
President Assad referred to the Islamic countries potentials and capacities to establish prosperity, stability and tranquility for Muslim nations and underscored that expansion and deepening of ties between Tehran-Damascus will have an important role in solving Islamic world problems and providing prosperity and progress for Islamic nations.
The Syrian president called for using Iran's valuable achievements in different arenas.
Referring to the US and the Zionist efforts to harm Iran and Syria positions in the region by presenting issues like Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine, the Syrian president said, "By our efforts and
consultations we must make the region's people aware about ominous goals of the US and the Zionists."
