BEIRUT: The international community should support Lebanon’s military to guarantee the success of the global coalition to combat ISIS, the Lebanese ambassador to the U.N. said late Friday.
“Lebanon, which still suffers from terrorist attacks, the most of which recent was a bombing against soldiers following the abduction of troops, is with you today in this joint battle against terrorism,” Nawaf Salam told the U.N. Security Council during a meeting in New York.
“Success in this battle requires you to help my country by strengthening its military forces and supporting its economy and national institutions.”
Nawaf spoke about the growing threat of ISIS in Iraq, where the radical group had overrun swaths of land.
