The leader of the Lebanese Kataeb Party, MP Sami Gemayel, demanded that Hezbollah “stop the support front” and “hand over its weapons and soldiers to the Lebanese army.”
During a press conference in Bikfaya, Gemayel stated, “We have heard Hezbollah’s narrative, and we want to emphasize that no party or individual can lead Lebanon into war alone. This conflict is not defensive; it is a war to support Hamas. Out of compassion for the Lebanese people, enough is enough; stop this war.”
“The war has undermined any justification for Hezbollah’s claim that its weapons protect the Lebanese. On the contrary, it only brings them suffering. We advocate for a clear separation of paths, the acceptance of the state and its army, and the implementation of international resolutions. We must facilitate the election of a president and the formation of a government to foster reconciliation and collaborate in building a new Lebanon,” Gemayel added.
Gemayel asked, “Who claims that the non-return of 100,000 Israelis to northern Israel justifies the killing and destruction? What do you say to the displaced, the injured, and those who have lost their sight?”
He emphasized that defending the Palestinians cannot come at the expense of the Lebanese state. “War is not an inevitable fate; it’s a decision made. I can mention Iran for example, which did not sacrifice its people for any support, and Syria, which distanced itself and did not enter any conflict, and the same goes for all the countries of the Moumanaa axis (Iran and its allies).”
