The Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon announced a new death toll on Saturday following Hezbollah’s declaration of solidarity with Gaza on October 8.
The death toll now stands at 1,640, with the number of injured at 8,408. Among them, 11 were killed and 108 were wounded during the attack on Beirut’s southern suburbs on Friday night.
The strike, one of the deadliest since the 2006 war, was a successful assassination attempt on Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, with additional Hezbollah commanders also killed in the attack.
On Friday evening, a series of Israeli airstrikes targeted Beirut, with 10 simultaneous strikes focusing on the Haret Hreik area, al-Amliyeh School, and the old road leading to the airport.
The strikes occurred in a crowded neighborhood, leading to two confirmed deaths and 76 injuries.
Preliminary reports indicate that six residential buildings and surrounding infrastructure were destroyed.
