"And I have found both freedom and safety in my madness, the freedom of loneliness and the safety from being understood, for those who understand us enslave something in us. But let me not be too proud of my safety. Even a Thief in a jail is safe from another thief. "

Who Is Mohammad Haidar, Alleged Target of Basta Strikes? - This is Beirut

At dawn on Saturday, the Israeli army carried out a series of strikes against the Basta area, and more specifically against a building where, according to unconfirmed reports, Hezbollah's head of operations, Mohammad Haidar, was staying.

While some sources mention the names of the group's Secretary General, Naim Qassem, and the head of the External Security Organization, Talal Hamiyeh, others mention Mohammad Haidar.

Haidar is a senior leader nicknamed “Abou Ali.” He is one of Hezbollah's main leaders and most notable security specialists. He plays a central role in Hezbollah's Jihad Council (a sub-council that reports to the Shura Council), managing the group's surveillance operations, recruitment, fighter training, military equipment and security systems.

According to the US State Department, the man whose fate is currently unknown (his assassination has still not been confirmed) headed Hezbollah networks operating outside Lebanon. However, no information on the nature or location of these activities has been confirmed. He is also said to have participated in the appointment of leaders in various Hezbollah units. According to the “Intelli Times” website, Mohammad Haidar is also responsible for the development of secret military projects managed by Hezbollah.

Haidar held the role of MP for Baalbeck in 1992 and withdrew from politics and media since. He has been associated with political activities aimed at strengthening the organization's presence and influence in the Bekaa Valley and Lebanon in general.

This is not the first time Israel has tried to target him. A few years ago, Israel attempted to assassinate him in the southern suburb of Beirut using a drone but failed.
