NEW YORK, (SANA)- Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vitaly Churkin, said the Arab monitoring mission provided more objective information on what is taking place in Syria and confirmed the presence of armed people who have been committing acts of killing and looting.
In a speech at a Security Council session to discuss the situation in Syria, Churkin said the Arab League's decision on suspending Syria's membership has had negative results.
He stressed that the role of the international community should not be to stoke conflict or interfere by means of economic sanctions or military force, but to enhance dialogue to reach a solution.
Churkin said that Russia is continuing work to reach a national agenda for dialogue among all sides without conditions.
