Lavrov: International Community Should Not Anticipate Results of National Dialogue in Syria- SANA


MOSCOW, (SANA)- Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, called on the international family not to anticipate the results of the dialogue in Syria.

In a press conference on Wednesday in Moscow, Lavrov said " Recalling of a number of countries of their envoys from Syria is "illogical" and doesn't contribute to the implementation of the Arab Plan to resolve the crisis."

Lavrov added "We don't understand this logic.. I don't believe that recalling the envoys will ensure suitable circumstances to implement the Arab League initiative."

The Russian Minister pointed to the Syrian leadership readiness to hold a wide national dialogue without pre-conditions.

Minister Lavrov pointed out that the basic principles for settlement in Syria, which Russia insists upon, are the halting of violence ,whatever its source might be, beginning of a general Syrian dialogue, and non-interference of foreign powers in the domestic affairs of Syria.

Minister Lavrov underscored that the international community should never turn blind eyes to the fact that the violence in Syria is taking place by the opposition armed groups and the authorities, asserting that the presence of Arab observers in Syria has played a positive role.

''We have denied the armed groups which fight against the government forces the chance to control Syrian towns and cities,'' added Minister Lavrov in rejection to the criticism targeting Russia following its veto against a draft UN Security Council on Syria...
