BEIRUT: A wave of Syrian government airstrikes on ISIS' self-proclaimed capital of Raqqa, in the country's east, killed at least 63 civilians Tuesday, activists said.
The latest toll from the raids came after warnings that earlier tolls were likely to rise.
The Syrian Observatory of Human Rights had released a statement earlier Tuesday updating their initial toll of 23 to 36.
The statement added that, "Dozens more were wounded, some of them critically. We fear the death toll may rise further," Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP.
