The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the Israeli attack on the southern suburb of Beirut during an emergency Security Council meeting on July 31, 2024. Lebanon considered the attack “a dangerous escalation,” as it had targeted a densely populated residential area. This meeting was called by Russia, China, and Algeria at the request of Iran.
At the session, Lebanon reiterated its commitment to international legitimacy, its rejection of war, and its full commitment to Resolution 1701.
Additionally, Lebanon condemned Israeli attacks on countries in the region, the latest of which was the assassination of Isamil Haniyeh in Tehran.
