According to the official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the “armed terrorist groups” killed the civilians on Saturday in the town of Houla, about 32 kilometers (20 miles) northwest of the provincial capital city of Homs.
Clashes also broke out between Syrian forces and the armed groups in Houla.
Several members of the armed groups and a number of Syrian forces were also killed in the fighting, SANA said.
The opposition Syrian National Council, however, blamed the Damascus government for the violence in Houla.
