JERUSALEM, (Xinhua) -- Several dozen Palestinians in Bethlehem hurled stones at Jewish worshipers at one of Judaism's holiest sites during "Nakba (catastrophe) Day" protests Tuesday morning, as demonstrators clashed with Israeli troops elsewhere in the West Bank.
The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) police intervened to stop the rock attacks at Rachel's Tomb complex, although they allowed some 200 Palestinians to hold a demonstration at the site, local Army radio reported.
There were no reports of injuries to either side in the clash, in which security personnel at the site hurried worshipers to safety from the shower of stones.
The heavily-guarded tomb, widely accepted as the birthplace site of the biblical martiarch Rachel by both Jews and Muslims, was enclosed by tall cement security walls after numerous shooting attacks against Jewish worshipers during the second intifada...
