Phalange Party urged the state to adopt the necessary measures to stop Syrian violations of Lebanese territories, slamming transforming border regions “into a mailbox for political messages between the Syrian regime and opposition.”
"We condemn the use of border regions as a war tool and transforming them into a mailbox for political messages between the Syrian regime and the opposition,” the party said in a released statement after the political bureau's weekly meeting.
"We reiterate our calls for the adoption of urgent on ground measures to end all kinds of Syrian violations of Lebanese territories and seeking the help of the Arab League and the United Nations Security Council.”
The statement added: “It is unfortunate that the country stays in a state of crisis that threatens upcoming constitutional deadlines and worsens daily problems facing Lebanese citizens.”
“While Independence Day should have been a national event with the participation of all factions, Lebanon instead is heading further backwards and is wasting opportunities, which extends and amplifies the vacuum in the state.”
The party called again for reaching consensus over a new electoral law to shorten the extended mandate of the parliament.
