On 21 August, Turkey's Prime Minister and President-elect Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the AK Party executive board's decision nominate Ahment Davutoğlu to succeed him as the leader of the party. In a few days, we will see Davutoğlu chosen as the leader of AK Party and the Prime Minister, but it will be a matter of time before his performance in this post can be assessed. In this piece, Global Fellow Bülent Aras reflects on Davutoğlu's rise to prominence in Turkish politics and the ideas which define his approach to foreign policy.
