Five hundred anti-Syrian government fighters have entered Syria thorough Turkey to prevent Kurdish forces from advancing to the northern Syrian town of Azaz, the last rebel stronghold before the border with Turkey, and securing a corridor to Aleppo, a pro-government daily has claimed.
According to a report published in Yeni Şafak on Tuesday, a large number of anti-Syrian government fighters were dispatched to Syria through Turkey on Feb. 13 after Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) exploited an offensive by the Syrian army, supported byRussian bombing and Iranian-backed Shiite militias, and seized ground from Syrian rebels to extend their presence along the border.
