It doesn’t look like there is going to be a ceasefire in Syria anytime soon; this was confirmed on Tuesday morning, when the Islamist rebels of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) announced their latest offensive in the Dara’a Governorate that is dubbed “Death Triangle”.
The “Death Triangle” refers to the large area of land in northwestern Dara’a that forms a triangle between the villages of Tal Al-Harra, Deir Al-‘Adas, and Al-Sinamayn – the latter two villages are under the control of the Syrian Arab Army.
In particular, the Islamist rebels will attempt to retake the area east of Kafr Shamis; this territory was lost to the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Armored Division, Hezbollah, and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard during a winter offensive in early 2015.
