Minutes ago in the Latakia Governorate’s northeastern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade (commando brigade) of the Republican Guard – backed by Fouj Al-Mughawayr Al-Bahar (Syrian Marines), Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra (Desert Hawks Brigade), the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), and the National Defense Forces (NDF) – have imposed full control over the strategic village of Kinsibba after a 72 hour long battle with the extremist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group), Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, and the Free Syrian Army (FSA).
The Syrian Commandos and their allies were able to break-through the rebel defenses inside the village this morning after surrounding Kinsibba from three different flanks last night.
Similar to the capture of Al-Rabi’yah in Jabal Al-Turkmen (Turkmen Mountains), the Syrian Armed Forces surrounded the village from three different flanks in order to give the rebels one outlet to retreat; this military contingency is premised on the idea that it would shorten the battle and avoid immense bloodshed.
