BEIRUT: Lebanon's northeastern border town of Arsal is not technically under siege, but residents consider themselves to be trapped by fear of being assaulted or kidnapped by the angry relatives of a slain policeman if they attempt to leave their village, security sources told The Daily Star Thursday.
“The road from Arsal to the interior (Bekaa) is open, but the people of Arsal are anxious and fear being attacked and kidnapped on the road in Labweh and Bazzalieh. That is why they consider themselves under siege,” the sources said.
