Damascus, SANA – Syria and Russia will soon sign a cooperation protocol between the two countries’ elections committee for enhancing cooperation in election-related expertise and mechanisms, Chief of the Higher Judicial Committee for Elections Hisham al-Shaar said Sunday.
In an interview with SANA reporter, al-Shaar, who presided over a delegation which visited Moscow recently, said the two sides held “positive and constructive” meetings, adding that Russia’s stances in support of the Syrian leadership and people are a result of the deep-rooted relations binding the two friendly countries.
The Committee’s delegation visited Russia between April 19 and 26 at the invitation of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, with the talks focusing on exchanging expertise in election mechanisms according to the optimal standards of transparency.
