A mortar shell fired from Syria has killed five people and injured more than nine others in Turkey’s southeastern border region of Akcakale.
In retaliation, Turkey attacked a military post near the border town of Tel Abyad, killing several Syrian soldiers. The move comes after Syria offered its condolences to the Turkish nation and said it is investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, Iran has called on both sides to exercise restraint and not fall for enemy plots.
