BEIRUT: Damascus would consider any military intervention by Turkey in Syria an act of aggression, the Syrian Foreign Ministry warned Friday, a day after Turkish Parliament authorized military action against ISIS inside the country.
“The public approach of the Turkish government represents an act of aggression on a country that is a member state of the United Nations,” Syria’s TV said, quoting a Foreign Ministry statement.
In a separate statement posted on SANA, Syria asked the international community to stop Turkey from “the adventures of the Turkish leadership, which is threatening international and regional peace and security.”
“The international community should take a serious, firm and responsible stance to put an end to Ankara's destructive approach, force it to abide by Security Council resolutions, stop its unlimited funding to armed, terrorist organizations, and stop interfering in Syrian affairs.”
