BEIRUT: Lebanon and Syria should coordinate their efforts in combating terrorism to better serve their mutual national interests and security, Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdel Karim Ali said, criticizing the Lebanese government’s reluctance to cooperate with his country.
“The (Lebanese) government’s hesitation regarding coordination with the Syrian government is not in its own interest or the interest of the (Lebanese) Army,” Ali said in comments to Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV.
“The Lebanese popular base wants such coordination (with Syria) because they want security which could be achieved through the cooperation of the two armies to serve the interests of both Lebanon and Syria, and probably that of Lebanon first,” Ali added.
