Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil has prepared a plan aimed at solution of the problems caused by influx of refugees from Syria to Lebanon and would propose it to the government, sources familiar with the matter told Sputnik.
BEIRUT (Sputnik) — Amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Syria, millions of people have fled the crisis-torn state. According to the UN Refugee Agency over million of refugees from Syria are currently in Lebanon.
"The project of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Minister Gebran Bassil regarding the return of the Syrian refugees to the stable regions [of Syria] is in line with the Lebanese constitution and international law, as required by the conditions after a seven-year burden of resettlers from Syria that had a negative and dangerous impact at all levels, including in economy and security," the sources said.
