An informed official in Lebanon says the Western-backed al-Mustaqbal party has been seeking veteran army officers to aid and train terrorist elements in Syria, Press TV reports.
The Lebanese source said a senior member of the party has contacted a large number of retired military personnel, specialized in various fields including bomb making and defusing.
The suspect, identified by his initials as AM, has been acting in cooperation with the party's representative in the Akkar district, in Lebanon's North Governorate.
The Lebanese source said the two have been attempting to convince the officers that their presence was necessary in Akkar's Wadi Khaled area to help clean landmines planted on the Syrian border to prevent infiltration of terrorists and smuggled arms.
The officers were also asked to train anti-Damascus militants to make hand bombs to use in their confrontations with Syrian army forces.
The Lebanese officials further noted the operation of terrorists with Syrian nationality and foreign mercenaries claiming to be forces loyal to the FBI-backed “Free Syrian Army.”
