BEIRUT: Two Palestinians have been sentenced to jail terms for an attempt to bomb a U.N. peacekeeping patrol in south Lebanon, a judicial source said Thursday.
The source told The Daily Star that Laila Musa was sentenced in absentia to life in prison and that Khaled Qomboz, who is currently in custody, received a three-year sentence.
They were also convicted of forming an armed group and possessing explosives. Musa would be entitled to a retrial in the event she is taken into custody.
The source said the attempt to blow up a patrol belonging to the U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) dates back to 2008.
