Syria’s commander-in-chief, Defense Minister Fahd Jassem Al-Freij visited yesterday Tha’la military airbase in the western outskirts of Sweida province.
Minister Al-Freij met a number of pilots, technicians and soldiers, praising their steadfastness against rebel attacks, conveying the President’s appreciations for their sacrifices as well as heroic acts.
The officers and soldiers defending the airbase confirmed their ‘invincible will’ to fend off the attackers ‘whatever it takes’.
Al-Freij was briefed on the combat actions that took place, as well as the plans developed to secure the base.
Tha’la airbase, located in western outskirts of Sweida, has been under attack for days by Daraa rebels led by Jabhet al-Nusra, before the Army troops backed by pro-government Druze fighters managed to drive rebel out for a few kilometers.
