Al-Hasakah, Syria (6:50 A.M.) -The Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) launched a large-scale offensive in the southern countryside of the Al-Hasakah Governorate on Tuesday, targeting the strategic city of Al-Shadadi, which is currently under the control of the U.S. backed “Syrian Democratic Forces.”
ISIS began the offensive by storming the Syrian Democratic Forces’ defenses south of Al-Shadadi city; this resulted in the capture of a number of sites, including four villages.
Following the capture of these four villages, the Islamic State made a major push for Al-Shadadi’s southern perimeter, capturing the town of Al-Sheikh Hilal along the way.
