On December 15, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the National Defense Forces (NDF) captured the strategic hills of al-Zayat, al-Mintar and al-Dahr al-Asud southeast and east of the village of Mughr al-Mir in the Western Ghouta region, according to the Hezbollah media wing in Syria.
According to Syrian pro-government sources, the SAA is currently advancing towards Marwan Hill and shelling positions of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies in Mughr al-Mir and Beit Jinn with mortars and Syrian-made Golan heavy rockets.
From its side, Syrian oppositions sources claimed that HTS fighters destroyed a tank of the SAA during the clashes in al-Dahr al-Asud Hill. However, many other sources said that HTS fighters run away minutes after the beginning of the SAA attack as they were not able to stand the heavy shelling.
With HTS unable to stop the SAA advance in Western Ghouta, the strategic Mughr al-Mir village north Beit Jinn might be captured by the SAA in the upcoming days.
