BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:10 A.M.) – At least a battalion of reinforcements made up of elite pro-government troops has been sent to eastern Damascus to assist local army forces in repelling a large Al-Qaeda-led offensive against a key military installation.
On late-Friday, Al-Masdar News received word that scores of elite pro-government fighters belonging to the Qalamoun Shield Forces were being pulled out of the strategic reserve and sent to Damascus to assist local Syrian Arab Army units in turning back a jihadist offensive in the city’s eastern district of Harasta.
