"And I have found both freedom and safety in my madness, the freedom of loneliness and the safety from being understood, for those who understand us enslave something in us. But let me not be too proud of my safety. Even a Thief in a jail is safe from another thief. "

What’s left of IS in eastern Syria: map- Al-Masdar News

BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:30 P.M.) – The Islamic State’s (IS) self-proclaimed ‘caliphate’ is nearly finished in both Syria and Iraq after nearly three and a half years of war.
Now, the Islamic State finds themselves trapped inside 7,200 square kilometers of territory in the western countryside of the Deir Ezzor Governorate.
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their Iranian allies will be attacking this large pocket in western Deir Ezzor in the coming days, while the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces attempt to seal the terrorist group’s remaining positions along the Iraqi border.
With the Iraqi Armed Forces clearing the last remnants of the Islamic State in western Iraq, 2018 looks to be the year that the terrorist group no longer has a presence in the Euphrates River Valley.
