Reports say the armed anti-Syria insurgents in Turkey have clashed with residents of the city of Antakya near the Syrian border.
The insurgents encountered a group of residents in Antakya, located in the southern province of Hatay, on Thursday.
Over the past months, the foreign-sponsored insurgents have used a number of areas in Hatay as their bases and they have several times engaged in similar clashes with the Turkish residents.
The reports come a few days after Turkish police clashed with Syrians seeking shelter at an area in Hatay on August 14.
On July 25, a Turkish official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Ankara would close Turkey’s border crossings with Syria until further notice.
